Leonardo scored his first goal for the Brisbane Roar in their Round 1 clash against the Newcastle Jets on Saturday night.
The Brazilian forward had been goal-shy for the Roar, failing to find the back of the net in four games before his breakthrough.
But he delivered with a stunning effort from 25 yards out that beat goalkeeper James S牧场r for a 1-0 win at AAMI Park.
It was a much-needed boost for Leonardo and the Roar, who have struggled to score goals this season.
The striker's strike was just one of several impressive performances by Brisbane's attacking players over the weekend.
In the Roar's 2-0 victory over the Central Coast Mariners, defender Michael McGovern was named man of the match after a solid display at the heart of the defence.
Meanwhile, midfielder Ryan McGowan also impressed with a clever pass that set up the winning goal for Roar captain Scott Pohlad.
But it was Leonardo's strike that will be remembered most by fans of the club.
He has now found the back of the net twice in two games since returning from injury, and is already showing why he is considered one of the best strikers in the A-League.
Brisbane's coach Ange Postecoglou praised Leonardo's performance, saying: "Leonardo has come through his injury period well and he showed some real quality tonight."
"He's still got plenty of work to do but he's getting there and I'm very pleased with him."
